22 December 1959 - 18 August 2009

From Sarge:

Our Dear Friend Liz Has Been Called Home

Elizabeth passed into the arms of the Lord at around 8 AM today 18 Aug 2009. I was with her, along with a Hospice Nurse. Josh came into town at 10 AM this morning and is with her now.

She was born in Houston on 22 December 1959. As a child she lived in Venezuela where her father worked as a Gulf Oil executive. In her short time on earth, she raised one fine boy of her own, and two stepsons. Her last years were spent counseling drug and alcohol abusers in a special program in the Texas Correction system. For the past 10 years she has given happiness, companionship, and love to a man who didn’t deserve half as much and who will miss her until the end of his days.

Thanks to everybody who sent their prayers and well wishes. She heard every one of them and left this plane knowing that you loved her.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

From Josh @ LST:

JoshD on August 18th, 2009 at 8:24 pm

Thank you, all of you, for your sympathies and prayers.

The loss of my mother is very difficult but I am able to find some sort of comfort in your words and to hear how she has touched your lives. And for that I sincerely thank each and every one of you. She was a wonderful mother, wife, and friend and will always be loved and missed.

It is obvious that she made a tremendous impact in every life that she came across and the world will never be the same without her. However, the world is so much of a better place because she was here.

She did a PERFECT job raising me and I am completely blessed for having had the opportunity to be her son. The shock of her passing is extremely overwhelming, however I am eternally grateful that I have a wonderful father here of whom I am able to lean on. We both loved and will always love my mother, for all of time.

Again, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. You were my mothers friends and thus are mine as well.

Josh

UPDATE … 20 Aug 2009 … UPDATE

There is an announcement forthcoming about a gathering of the friends and family of Elizabeth, possibly next month.
As per her wishes, it will be held at her beloved pond, a picture of which accompanied the announcement of her passing.
Sarge and Josh again want to thank everyone for their help and prayers.
“All the words, prayers, and concern have been a big help to both of us.”

SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

sargevining on August 21st, 2009 at 9:50 am

Thanks Shannon for posting info on the service. We’ll let you all know when it will be as soon as Josh gets things to where he can come back down from St. Louis.

To give you folks an idea of how Elizabeth wanted this to be:

Her ex-husband will be doing some BBQ, as he did for our wedding. It will be a potluck style get together in the back yard here at the Compound. We don’t have direct access to the pond any longer. It will be a late afternoon/early evening thing so that the back yard is in full shade. Plan to bring a lawn chair and a cooler, and possibly a table of some sort.

We will be celebrating Elizabeth’s life, not mourning her loss.

That’s the way she wanted it. That’s the way it will be.

From ST on 9/13/2009 by way of Sarge:

Received the following from Southerntragedy and Sarge has also asked me to pass the word. “Just a reminder that we are having Liz’s “Celebration of Life” in Rosenburg, this Saturday the 19th, around 5pm.
Bring your own chairs, coolers, etc., and if you feel up to it, bring a dish. ST says, I think the girls and I and Liz’ ex husband and Sarge’s mom has everything covered, but I’m willing to try new food!!

Let me (ST) know if you’ll be able to attend. I need to get a head count.

Liz thought the world of each and every one of you. I just wanted you to know that.
